Youth Olympic Games 2018 — Opening Ceremony

Obelisco, Buenos Aires · 2018

Backstage content production & broadcast coordination · Alongside Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and the IOC

Weeks
with Av. 9 de Julio and Corrientes closed for rehearsals
Months
of auditions: dancers, singers, actors, acrobats
Olympic
scale, with OBS and the IOC

The challenge

A production of extraordinary scale: months of auditions across several venues and weeks of rehearsals with blocks of Avenida 9 de Julio and Calle Corrientes closed off. Everything happened at once, in different places — often in the middle of high-risk acts, like an acrobat descending from the top of the Obelisco with a flag while the national anthem was sung.

The decisions

  1. Simultaneous coverage across venues, so no key moment of the process was lost.
  2. Knowing exactly when to step in: coordinating with safety teams in advance and capturing each moment without interfering with the action.
  3. Backstage content and broadcast coordination aligned with OBS and the IOC.

The result

The full process of an Olympic opening ceremony captured from the inside — from the first auditions to the night at the Obelisco.
